January Vision Board

Image
Every year I create a Vision Board in January.  No New Years Resolutions for me this time; instead a "Ta Da" list!  You may ask, "What is a Ta Da list?" and I would answer. It's a list of all the fun things you did and accomplishments you made and the goals you completed the year before. So there are no resolutions to be made only more of the good stuff from the year before. So as it turns out, my vision board incorporates my Ta Da List. It encourages me to do more of the things that truly make me happy. This year I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days at the Harvest Inn located in beautiful St Helena, Ca.  LOVED IT!  Such a nice place.  Great accommodations, service and food.  It was fun to walk the grounds because of all the wonderful brick walkways, garden art and lush gardens, plus we had a Koi pond just outside our bedroom window.

India Flint Inspired Bundles

Image
Here are some photos mostly to keep me on track as to what batch the bundles came from and what dye bath I put them in!!!! My favorite part of this segment of the process is the fact that the jars are sitting on the back fence! It's pitch dark out there now, so the jars on the fence will wait for the morning light, so I can post it here!  This post should have come before the next one, but these are the bundles that created the swatches I'm showing on the next post.

While waiting

I've been waiting for school to start again. I loved the Printing and Painting Fabric class I took this last fall, I'm totally hooked! I learned so much and it was unbelievably fun to boot. Like I said, I've been waiting, not idle, for school to start again.  I just can't wait to get into that great big fabulous studio space where I can get things done. In the meanwhile I've been fooling around with some very small projects based on India Flint's ecoprints.  Here are my latest swatches. Some were soaked in a jar on the fence for a couple of weeks after having been bundled for 30 days.  The rosy colored swatches are dyed with Cochineal (bugs!) and the brownish were dyed in Black Walnut.  Please check out the link at Cochineal, it's so interesting and amazingly these bugs are also used to color some foods we eat!

Final Project 2014

I finally completed the fall class for Printing and Painting on Fabric.  Here are the results. I have learned so much from this class! I'm taking it again in the Spring 2015 and hoping to learn as much but also refine my techniques too!

getting up to date

Have been busy playing with fabric, dye, botanical and a bunch of new techniques.  I'm getting ready for finals so don't have time to chat but thought I could post some photos of the work done so far. I'll explain later.

Stuff I did

Image
Just looking through some of my photos of my art because it's been so long since I've posted any of my work. This was an art project I did for a class I took this spring at my local junior college.  It was a really fun class with soooooooo much talent gathered in one place.  It was awesome to work with so many talented and fun people. The large piece is my collage of the famous Edward Hopper's Chop Suey painting.  It took a couple of weeks to finish this work.
