  I have been playing with a new technique.  It has been absolutely transformational!  I couldn't stop myself; I was lost in time for hours. I love when that happens.

I'm working on a new line of greeting notecards which are A2 size.  These new cards are just a bit smaller than my Siapo Greeting cards that are A6, but the impact is huge.  These new backgrounds are so perfect for my new line of notecard.  The cards feature little bits and pieces of all my favorite left over painted papers.  They are mainly upcycled treasures too beautiful to toss that I have saved over time.  Like old maps I've altered, sheet music that has been painted or Gelli printed or in some other way altered.  I also have some found and exotic papers in the mix.  The papers have been stamped or stenciled or doodled on in a way that makes them truly unique.  I've tried some new techniques using several new mediums that I haven't used for a long time or never before and I'm loving the results.

I call them Girlfriend cards because each one is an affirmation to help your friend or loved one at a point in their lives. They're the words you know they need to hear. Just the perfect reminder for the moment.

I've made lots of cards but people are loving them so much I can't seem make enough!  Of course, that makes me feel great but I really wanted to put some up on my Etsy shop.  So far, I haven't been able to get any photographs of the cards to upload to my shop.  I'm hoping to get some good shots after Thanksgiving.  I'll let you guys know when that happens. I'll give you a link to my Etsy Shop when their up and ready.

t This is what I did with the last background that I showed you.  I don't usually go in for pink but this felt right and this is also the first time using black paint.  I have a little tool I've made, from needlework grid. I cut it at the point where it leaves little "nobs" which I drag through the paint on the page. I was reading Joyce Lee's Notes to Self , which I find profoundly uplifting and used her wisdom for this spread. I quote: "I knowingly accept that I am a work in progress. I do understand that taking baby steps is the most I can do some days. New Stuff in November and December

These past couple of month have been a complete change from the past year.  I lost my 88 year old client to Alheimzers who lived 75 miles from me.  So my dear client and comute is over, which is sad in so many ways. In spite of the comute I was able to bring my computer and art supplies therefore stay active on the internet and keep creating for the three days I was there. I have a new client who will be 90 years old in 2010, who is in good health and a joy in her own right.  She only lives 15 miles from me but alas, no internet connection or space for me to create art. So I'm back to a very lopsided exsistance, 3 days with no internet or art and then 4 days off.  I'm having to deal with art and internet withdrawal!  And of course tis the season to be busy, busy, busy!  All these pages are from my composition book that I got from Walmart for $1.29.  I love that I don't have to worry, just have fun and total free...

Creating Personal Retreats an Online Workshop

The Entrance This is week three, Contemplation!  So the front side of our Retreat House is done, mostly, I can see where I would like to add more personally meaningful additions here and there. I'm taking this Online Workshop with Cathryn Antyr, the collagediva . I did another workshop with Cathryn and was very pleased with the details of instruction and the photos which guide you along and this workshop is no different.  I beleive that through this work I am finding balance in my life which was sorely needed. First Panels My artistic blossoming is depicted by a Louts flower.  Each petal reflects an aspect I am working on.  I also added that while I am doing this work I will allow myself to gently unfold but at the same time allow exploration while holding close to what has heart and meaning for me personally.
